Animal Sculptor Sherry Salari Sander resides in the Montana Countryside surrounded by a 300-acre wildlife preserve, the setting for her home and studio. She draws much inspiration from animals seeking protection there as well as from extensive travel and field research ranging from the Alaskan bush to the African plains. Sander strives to foster an appreciation for declining wildlife populations and the desire to preserve their habitat.
“A life-long love of the outdoors and all living creatures, along with a creative bent, inspired my adventurous life and sculpting career.  I’ve admired and studied creatures big and small in such wonderful and exotic lands as Africa, Alaska, the Northwest Territories, Asia, Europe, and throughout the United States.  Here at home I observe fox, whitetail deer, bear, mountain lions, coyotes, wild turkeys, eagles, and waterfowl, among others, that roam and inhabit the “Bed & Breakfast” environment that is our ranch property.
I have no greater animal love than for my horses, true companions and good friends. I’ve raised and ridden horses all my life developing strong relationships along the way from showing hunter-jumpers to riding working cow horses on our ranch.  For my work, I find animals are less intimidated by the sound of a horse’s four-beat pattern allowing me to more closely observe and study their gestures. These days, scouting for wildlife and sculpting ideas, adventures to the high country, and pleasure riding with friends, grandchildren and family are things I love best, all possible because of these magnificent mammals.”
