Pete began experimenting with pulling prints from his personal photo archives, now he is photographing animals in the wild with this technique in mind. Seeking a nontraditional presentation he chose to print Photoshop-processed images from his archives on gampi and found that precisely aligning and gluing together two such identical images produced prints of remarkable depth and dimension.
Gampi Torinoko is a strong, crisp sheet that is translucent, with almost no visible fibers derived from a bush found in the mountainous, warm areas of Japan. Each limited-edition print is fastened to a custom lacquered frame with small nails in the corners of the paper. All materials are archival, including glass. The result is a captivating piece of nature that easily fits traditional or contemporary homes with ease.
