Viriditas by Jenny Hahn
48x36 in. Acrylic on Board
Abstract Figurative Painting Narrative piece about connection
This original piece of art celebrates the web of all life, the beauty and power of nature and also humanity's role as steward and protector. The Latin term "viriditas" was used by the medieval saint and mystical abbess Hildegard of Bingen to mean the healing, divine "greening power" of nature. She believed that this greening can moisten and crack open even the most hardened of hearts, leading to compassion. It is the creative force inherent in all life, calling us to be fruitful co-creators with the Divine.
