About this Artist
Abstract painting by AMELIA CARUSO available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor Amelia was born in Cincinnati in 1962 and stayed in the area until 1996 when she moved to Colorado. Amelia attended the Arts Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. She was actually a Documentary Photography Major in college and brings that sense of “composing inside the viewfinder” to her paintings. Her work as been exhibited in galleries and museums across the country. Amelia has had work on Emmy Award winning television shows such as Will & Grace in the 90’s through the mid 2000’s. Now she has found a more purposeful & powerful work with the introspective look of her current direction. The relationship of the conscious and unconscious is her subject matter now. The relationship between health and illness, what and how they both are defined. Amelia has work in the permanent collection of the Ft Collins Museum of Art. She has participated with many Art in Public Places projects, the majority of in her now home state of Colorado. Amelia also has a very successful fabric line called “Effervescence” with industry leader Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Creating organic forms in vibrant colors creates a feast for the eyes. Caruso changes your visual perspective. “I want the viewer to sense the beautiful grace and visual chemistry in the fluidity and color relationships of my work. I want the viewer to be engaged in the depth of the 2 dimensional surface, to be drawn into the flow. To move through the painting, looking at the dot patterns from a new perspective. Actually seeing and feeling the energy and the vibration of the form and colors. The dots are hand painted with only a paintbrush. No other tools are used.” ~Amelia Caruso
