Sprucing Up

We’re sprucing up the National Sculptors’ Guild Sculpture Garden.

Special thanks to Limbs And Things Tree Service who did a superb job taking out several (a dozen?) dead trees.

The perfect time to see the changes is June 15th for Legacy for Lu, enjoy the garden, see new work, raise funds for school art supplies, watch some of our painters paint Columbine, and do a little painting yourself. We will have self serve stations, coloring pages and canvases. Plus a community mural!

April Showers??!

Sometimes the showers involve snow. What a difference a day makes! The National Sculptors' Guild Sculpture Garden is looking really different today from what it did on Tuesday. We can't wait to see how this big wet snow helps the flowers coming up... the forsythia didn't fair well. #SpringInColorado #PoorForsythia #AprilBlizzard

We are loving the first heavy snow of the season for Northern Colorado. It's always fun to see how mother nature adds her touch to the sculpture in the National Sculptors' Guild garden.

The National Sculptors' Guild Sculpture Garden is filling up for summer with new sculpture and blossoms. We are pleased to have three new pieces from Stephen Shachtman. click the images below to shop online.
Sculpture in the National Sculptors' Guild garden by Jane DeDecker, Stone Forest, and Stephen Shachtman. Shachtman is constantly seeking to find something new and stimulating in either a physical or cerebral sense. The sculptures he creates circulate with aesthetics in contemporary forms with influences and inspiration from, science, architecture, and techniques. These inspirations inform him to create series’ with specific dialogue due to process', dimensions, material usage, and overall presence. Depending on the sculptural forms and concepts, a few primary materials employed are; copper, glass, and steel. Some of the elements in Stephen’s work range from; hammered surfaces which have an organic aesthetic while overall forms tend to have clean lines with a minimalist approach yet are monolithic in presence. Some aesthetics are large-scale filigree in the metal that allows a viewer to see through the organic forms, while similar manipulation of glass elements are stacked to create positive and negative spaces. All pieces are affected by the orientation of light to unveil the personality of the sculptures, which create a 4th dimension of shadows and reflection as they emerge to produce an element of surprise.

Columbine Gallery and the NSG sculpture Garden are full of great paintings and sculptures ready for your collection by our 50 represented artists. In honor of our 25th, we've traced back information on the building that houses all this beautiful artwork by getting in touch with the architect. See what we discovered. We also have our annual shows to look forward to this Spring, Summer and Fall. We hope to see you at any and all, plus a few times in between.

JK Designs and the National Sculptors' Guild have a number of large-scale projects already in the works this year. We look forward to sharing these exciting art statements with you as we complete and install them. We are finalists in other placements, and designing other concepts that we hope to also see actualized this year.

We wish you a wonderful 2017 & look forward to continuing to assist you in the practice of  Living with Art.

Glanz's Tree Top Stretch added to Benson Park

8/18/2016

We are pleased to share that National Sculptors' Guild Associate Dan Glanz's Tree Top Stretch bronze monument was one of the select new additions to Loveland's Benson Sculpture Garden this year. The park continues to grow each year through the proceeds generated from each annual Sculpture in the Park show now housing over 150 sculptures. We urge you to experience all of Loveland's Public Art collection during your next visit to Columbine Gallery.
National Sculptors' Guild Associate Dan Glanz's Tree Top Stretch bronze monument was one of the select new additions to Benson Sculpture Garden Loveland, Colorado
"For many years we lived in the beautiful Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir forest outside Loveland, Colorado, surrounded by wildlife we would see on an almost daily basis. We were always excited to see the wildlife; deer, black bears, elk, bobcats, coyotes, wild turkeys, and many more animals. However, it was the elusive mountain lion, while only occasionally spotted on the mountain, we knew was always close by.
On many occasions, we found tracks in the snow at the edge of the trees and half-eaten prey on our walks around our ridgetop. I would make it a habit, especially in winter, to go out in the early morning darkness to see if there were four-legged visitors nearby before letting our dogs outside. One snowy morning, with my headlamp illuminating the darkness, I discovered fresh mountain lion tracks in the snow on our steep drive only to realize that less snow had fallen in the lion’s tracks in front of me than the track I made behind me just 3 minutes earlier. I followed them back toward the house and discovered the lion had been watching me not 50 feet away. I’m sure it wasn’t the first time, nor the last, we had been closely watched.
“Tree Top Stretch” began as a commissioned piece that gave me the opportunity to describe the powerful stealthy, yet reclusive, feline in a more relaxed manner. The big cat is beginning the evening’s hunt, limbering up on an old treetop, more than likely a daily ritual." -Daniel Glanz
