"Capturing the emotion of the Grand Canyon for me is about the play of light on rock, the color it transforms into is from another world. At once, nature gives us so much to work with, other times it holds back. There can be a cool calm in camp at sunset, while sunrise plays a different song. I pull from nature what is given - and tell my story. I want to be able to take people on the river."

Russ Tanner's art is of the land itself. His love of nature and things of beauty are conveyed through his technical art training, coupling his honest realism with the softer subtleties of impressionism.
