Figurative bronze sculpture by GARY ALSUM available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art “The challenge of sculpture is depicting the movement and energy of a single moment. The central theme of my work is celebrating the gift of life. Most of my work in the last few years has been commissioned. I enjoy the challenge of combining the client’s vision and needs with my own ideas to create lasting depictions of significant memories in their lives. Although I am open to considering many concepts involving the human figure, I am particularly drawn to capturing subjects in motion. Movement, after all, is what captures our attention. Children at play and athletes in motion are my favorite subjects because of the passion for life they demonstrate. It is a constant challenge to capture these qualities in bronze and pass that on to the viewer. When developing each new sculpture my primary concern is artistic integrity.

Wildlife bronze sculpture by TIM CHERRY available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Tim Cherry's precise knowledge of animal anatomy and surface detail are merely the foundation of his work. His sensitivity as an artist allows him to stride boldly into aesthetically fluent designs, replete with impressionistic textures and stylized forms. Years of experience as a professional guide in the remote wilderness of northern Canada has informed Tim's sculpture, inspiring him to create authentic and artistic interpretations of the wildlife that has so profoundly affected his life. “I hope to create the best possible sculpture that I can by building strong designs through shape, line, texture an color. Always pushing my artistic boundaries to achieve what has not been done before, reaching out and experimenting with new designs and gestures. Creating sculptures that are well orchestrated, balanced, emotionally interesting, stimulating and lyrical.” Years of experience as a professional guide in the remote wilderness of northern Canada has informed Tim's sculpture, inspiring him to create authentic and artistic interpretations of the wildlife that has so profoundly affected his life. Tim was born in Calgary, Alberta and raised in the mountains of British Columbia. He is now a long-time resident of Branson, Missouri and spends much of his time traveling the United States to further his study of wildlife and his career as an artist. Figurative bronze sculpture by DEE CLEMENTS available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art 'One of the most wonderful and fascinating things about sculpture is the diversity of its purposes. My own work over the years has covered many areas. Some pieces are for beauty, some tell of our heritage, some tell of my own history and some are just of interesting images.' Dee's sculpture is a product of his life experiences and interests. The memories and the imagery of the small Midwestern community where he was born and raised; its family, its sense of freedom as a youth, its sense of community, and its people have been a source of inspiration.

Wildlife bronze sculpture by DARRELL DAVIS available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Composition is what drives the work of Darrell Davis. His journey in sculpture began after a visit to Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells inlet South Carolina, as a teenager. After receiving a BFA from The University of Texas at Arlington he enrolled in the Graduate School of Architecture`s landscape program. Wildlife sculptor, Darrell Davis, knew at age 15 he wanted to be a sculptor after visiting the South Carolina’s Brookgreen Sculpture Garden. Davis studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington, and too k graduate classes in landscape architecture also at the University of Texas. In 2013 Darrell was awarded the Gold Medal and Maurice B Hexter prize at the National Sculpture Society 80th Annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens SC. Darrell is a signature member of the National Sculpture Society, American Society of Marine Artists, Society of Animal Artists, and California Art Club. Darrell Davis was born in 1962 in rural west Texas but spent his early years in the Los Angeles area. From these two disparate worlds, Davis’ love of seeming contradiction emerged. Those diverse experiences and viewpoints were seeds that play out magnificently in his work today and he strives to learn, grow and push this envelope in every new piece. In a style that he and a few of his contemporaries lovingly refer to as impatient realism, he touches his audience. Combining the softness, fluidity and grace of his living subjects with the clean hard geometric, all while maintaining structure and composition, he manages to meld the two into something more powerful and impactful. “I love the idea of mixing the geometric, almost architectural shapes, with that of the free flowing organic. There is just something about sharp geometric lines juxtaposed with the organic curvilinear lines of nature that intrigues me of late.” “I guess its really an attempt to mesh the man-made world with the natural world. It’s a conundrum that I’m intrigued with abstraction and that of traditional realism. A large amount of abstraction is much too cold and dehumanizing, while a large amount of contemporary realism is simply stiff modeling of a subject. I fight to avoid both of those traps in my compositions. Sometimes you succeed and sometimes you don’t.” In the end, to me, the art of sculpture is all about balance, mass, composition, and gravity.” Darrell’s amazing ability to utilize convergent scientific thinking with the more divergent thinking traditionally associated with art produces works that affect both the right and left brain providing a pleasing balance. Davis was recently awarded the National Sculpture Society’s Gold Medal and Maurice B. Hexter prize at its 80th annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens. Davis is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society, California Art Club, American Society of Marine Artists, and Society of Animal Artists.

Buy Original, Shop Art, Fine Art Store at Columbine Gallery and the National Sculptors' Guild 'Part of Jane's artistic genius is her ability to select a moment with which all of us can relate to in our lives. These recognizable moments skip over generations, each generation finding recognition with it. The scene is timeless in the human experience and each takes us to that moment causing us to reflect and evaluate the importance of love, relationship and achievement. The textures of DeDecker's sculpture bespeak her passion, integrity and honesty. Her practiced and studied craftsmanship coupled with her dedicated respect for others achieves the balance, which makes a hard metal come alive with spirit and soul. This is why her collectors never tire of her work. These are the reasons her peers recognize her as being at the forefront of this century's contemporary sculptors.' - John Kinkade, Executive Director of the National Sculptors' Guild DeDecker began her artistic training as a painter at the University of Northern Colorado, until a professor, noticing her joy in the portrayal of shapes and forms, suggested she try her hand at sculpture. Taking his advice, DeDecker went on to study at Gobelins School of Tapestry in Paris, and in returning to Colorado, spent five years as master craftsman to the notable bronze sculptor George Lundeen. She has also worked with sculptors’ Fritz White, Danny Ostermiller and Kent Ulberg. Terry Kelsey, Forrest Hart and Glenna Goodacre. A member of the National Sculptors’ Guild (1994) and National Sculpture Society (1998), in 2007, she became a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society, New York, NY. DeDecker has gone on to receive copious awards, such as the Critics’ Choice Award from the Kimball Art Museum, Fort Worth, TX. Jane DeDecker has been making a major contribution to the world sculpture scene since 1986. Creating over 300 limited-edition original sculptures. She has been published in magazines reaching global circulations, from Art and Antiques to European Home and Gardens. She has been sought out for her artistic integrity by organizations ranging from the National Parks Service to the President of the United States. “My work is a cumulative process made of my life experiences and my desire to sculpt the human form. Each piece tells a story of how it was created-every stroke supporting the narrative. I can see in each of my pieces the evolution of learning and the discovery that takes place when I develop the soul and likeness of my subject. I try to retain in the sculpture the beginning strokes and gestures, because for me they contain the truth of the spirit. The finished piece hopefully reveals my thoughtful study of the subject and the energy of the creative process.”

It manifests from the deeper levels of an individual. Because faith is an integral part of my life, when I sculpt, this theme surfaces consistently. Although I employ the full range of sculptural language from representational to abstract, my passion is to express the figure as simply as possible to capture the essence of the pose and create space for the transcendent message to resonate with the viewer. Born and raised in Tennessee, Clay participated in the Governor's school for the Fine Arts before earning his BFA from Wheaton College in Illinois. He has been self-employed and living as a sculptor in Colorado Springs since 1996.

Figurative stone and bronze sculpture by EDWARD FLEMING available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Edward Fleming’s career as a sculptor began with studying sculpture as a student at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. It continued to be a vital interest, even after starting a 5-year BA program at Tulane University’s School of Architecture in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1981 Fleming returned to his hometown of Washington, DC and continued his apprentice work with architectural firms. As a professional architect, he designed and built mostly residential projects, which could be considered sculptures that people live in. In 1993 he started a program in stone sculpture at the Corcoran School of Art located in Washington DC. His artistic response to stone was so powerful that within a short time he was juggling his full-time architecture practice with what became almost full-time carving. Discovering an intense desire to return to sculpture as art, he dedicated himself to exploration and learning as an artist. In the summer of 1994, he went to Pietrasanta, Italy to study at the Pietrasanta Marble Carving Studio. Upon retuning to the States, he and his family moved to Corrales, New Mexico. There, Fleming devoted most of his time to making stone sculpture and apprenticing with sculptor Doug Hyde in Santa Fe. In 1995, Fleming and his family returned to Pietrasanta for a half-year of intense study. After leaving Italy, he and his family moved back to New Mexico, where he lived for several years, and most recently has moved to New Orleans, LA. “As an artist, I believe that the pursuit of knowledge of the human body is limitless. I’m actually delighted to think that I can study this for the rest of my life, and always have more to learn.”

Abstract Figurative bronze sculpture by CAROL GOLD available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art I sculpt in wax, then cast into bronze. I have chosen to work with human and animal forms to best express my feelings about nature and the human condition. I strive to convey a mood as well as create a sense of motion in space. Through the years my sculpture has moved in the direction of increasing simplicity. Casting my own work in bronze has enabled me to be aware of the variations that can occur at each step of the casting process that I then can incorporate into my work. The evolution of my sculptural forms has been affected by the different structural and textural possibilities inherent in the clay and the wax. Ultimately it is the unique quality of the bronze that has most profoundly influenced the direction of my work. Carol Gold was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up on a dairy farm in western Massachusetts. Between 1956 and 1960 she studied art at Cornell University, Boston University and the Museum School in Boston, but it wasn't until 14 years later, when her children were old enough for her to return to sculpting full time, that her work began to develop and change. Bronze casting techniques learned at the college of Marin in 1977 and 1978 enabled Carol to build her own foundry, outside of San Francisco, CA which she operated for 12 years. This intimacy with the entire casting process profoundly affected the evolution of her sculpture. She began to think in terms of the potential of the metal and started to use wax as her creative medium rather than the clay of her initial sculptures. Simplicity is an important concern in her continuous search for forms with to best express motion and mood using the human figure and an occasional animal as subject matter. For the past thirty years, Carol's work has been widely exhibited in the US and Canada. Her sculpture has received numerous awards at national exhibitions including the National Sculpture Society and the North American Sculpture Exhibition, as well as receiving public art commissions including the Bakersfield City Center Project in Bakersfield, California, the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas and most recently, the Entryway to the City of Bellflower, CA.

Figurative bronze sculpture by DENNY HASKEW available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Haskew’s artwork conveys his innermost being. It is intensely personal and honest. His themes are recurring: Spirit, Love, Forgiveness, Healing, Relationship, Endurance, the Sacredness of the Human Spirit, and the Strength in each of us, the Power of all that is Natural Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians, CA. His outlook on life and sculpture largely stems from his Irish/Potawatomi heritage. He states

Abstract sculpture by MARK LEICHLITER available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Abstract painting by MARK LEICHLITER available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Mark Leichliter was born in Loveland, Colorado and now resides in nearby Fort Collins. The natural beauty of this region was instrumental in my aesthetic development. The language of the land and its features has guided me toward sculpture as my means of artistic expression. I discovered my love of art in high school, having been exposed to advanced creative concepts through a self-developed independent study program. I grew up surrounded by construction tools and forms as my father, uncle, and grandfather built custom homes throughout Northern Colorado. This upbringing influenced my understanding of building and the value of craftsmanship. I spent a few years working for my dad's company, learning how to read blueprints and use the various tools of the trade. I eventually coupled my love of art and construction into sculpture by working for well-known sculptors in Loveland's bronze industry. I learned welding, metal finishing, mold-making and the enlargement of small models into monumental scale artworks. During this time, I also cast my own bronze sculpture and explored the subtractive sculpting methods of stone and wood carving. An injury caused me to turn to the computer and 3D modeling software which has enabled me to create an enormous variety of fabricated forms achievable in a vast assortment of materials. For the past twelve years, I have specialized in large-scale public works that include collaborations with architects, landscape architects, engineers, designers and a host of city planners and officials. These ‘team’ efforts have been the most rewarding of my career. My approach to public artworks is to follow a collaborative working model. I seek input from many sources and incorporate a multitude of means to produce successful artwork. The result is one wherein the line between artist, client and audience is blurred and the sense of accomplishment is shared by all. Through my public artwork, I hope to elicit a sense of pride and ownership in the community by way of an approachable sculptural vernacular. I would like the viewer to feel as though my work is speaking for them as well as to them. My work is primarily focused on the conveyance of metaphorical meanings that relate to universal themes such as balance, interdependence, and the human condition. I utilize technology to a great degree in the creation of my sculpture. I also seek to use more environmentally conscious materials and processes wherever possible. These sustainable and technological aspects are essential to artwork for public places, both in theme & practice. Dependent on the nature of each project, I employ durable materials such as stone, concrete, metal and glass. I find that the interplay between different media serves to accentuate the intrinsic qualities of each material. This juxtaposition adds another layer of interest to the total artwork placement.

Figurative bronze sculpture by HERB MIGNERY available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art “I feel that our attitude and our view of our future can only be determined by an examination of our ancestors, and the society they created. Just as a weather vane points toward the source of the wind, it must also point to the direction the wind is going. Likewise, we must focus our attention both ways to avoid losing those valuable lessons so painstakingly learned by those before us.

Abstract sculpture by JOE NORMAN available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art I enjoy honest welds and allen head bolts, the joy of struggle and walnut oil on smooth sanded wood. My best work has regret and relief and sometimes I throw wrenches. I steal natural shapes for my sculpture. Animal bones and river stones feel familiar in my gut. They’re all over the place, and they’re beautiful. I take emotional resonance and apply it to beautiful shapes. The right emotion AND the right shape just might be powerful to the right person. Maybe it is a small example of how to practice BOTH AND in addition to EITHER OR. My intent is to make art that contributes to a wider conversation about justice and care and our impact on the world. I hope it helps people think and be happy; I hope it helps people be important to each other. -- Joe Norman, 2018 When you support my artwork, be proud that it helps fund my continued investment in the Human Rights Campaign and the National Park Service. Joe Norman graduated with a degree in engineering from Stanford University prior to careers in product design consulting, education, and fine art. His furniture and sculpture explore environments that support and promote communities. Many of his designs are direct results of working with schools, families, and businesses to develop places that encourage people to work and be together in positive and supportive ways. Joe believes that gathering places feed the soul of our communities; that it is around our kitchens or with our feet propped up on coffee tables that we have some of our most important conversations. He thinks the most important part of his work isn’t the tables he makes, but rather it is about the people that are sitting around them. In other words, we do not need more stuff in our lives that does not bring us together in community. Joe’s furniture is made with recycled and environmentally conscious processes and materials whenever possible; he considers the earth itself as an important member of our global community. In fact, many of his ideas in were born from wrecking yards, recycling centers, and retired bicycles. His machine shop is powered by renewable wind energy.

Wildlife bronze sculpture by DON RAMBADT available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art “My sculptural work is rooted primarily in the presentation of form in space. I explore the positive/negative space relationship and how this interplay can be manipulated to give the impression of life and movement to my chosen subjects. Although my work is somewhat abstract, it has a strong basis in anatomical accuracy. I feel it necessary to have an intimate understanding of my subject matter before attempting to abstract it. This allows me to pick and choose which physical characteristics to emphasize or de-emphasize, thus creating a unique visual experience with each completed sculpture.” I have been interested in art since I was a child, but it wasn't until I first put two pieces of metal together in a college sculpture course that I truly found my voice. I have been fortunate to be able to combine my lifelong curiosity towards the natural world with a creative path that allows me to explore my own vision of what is interesting and beautiful. By continuing to push my own boundaries artistically, I hope to ensure that the journey never ends. Magnetic Migration If you’ve come across this page as a result of finding a little metal bird perched in an unlikely place, thank you for being curious enough to explore your find further. I would like to invite you to participate in my little project which stemmed from a series of sculptures I was creating which featured delicate birds juxtaposed against more imposing massive forms. I realized I could only push the contrast so far before it became impractical to build and transport the works, so I decided to employ

Wildlife bronze sculpture by SANDY SCOTT available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art A licensed pilot for more than thirty years, she feels her knowledge of aerodynamics has been helpful in achieving the illusion of movement in her bird sculpture. The Thomas Gilcrease Museum honored Sandy with a major retrospective exhibition in “Rendezvous ‘98”. Spirit of the Wild Things, a book about Sandy’s work was published the same year. Congratulations to Sandy for her recent accolades from the Briscoe Western Art Museum, honoring her with the Legacy Award. Sandy Scott received her formal art training at the Kansas City Art Institute and later worked as an animation background artist for the motion picture industry. She turned her attention to etchings and printmaking in the 1970’s and to sculpture in the 1980’s. Born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1943 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is now headquartered in Lander, Wyoming near the foundry that casts her bronzes and she maintains studios on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada and in the mountains of northern Colorado. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams, she is an avid outdoorswoman who loves to hunt and fish. In Canada her friends Dave and Michelle Beaushane who own Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts frequently fly her and Trish (her long time friend who manages the business end of things) to remote lakes and portages north of Kenora, Ontario. She has made 16 trips to Alaska and has been to Europe, Russia, China and South America to visit the world’s great museums. She believes wildlife artists should be in the field to accurately present their subject to the viewer. Her work is authentic. She has experienced and lived what she depicts.

Abstract painting by AMELIA CARUSO available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor Amelia was born in Cincinnati in 1962 and stayed in the area until 1996 when she moved to Colorado. Amelia attended the Arts Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. She was actually a Documentary Photography Major in college and brings that sense of “composing inside the viewfinder” to her paintings. Her work as been exhibited in galleries and museums across the country. Amelia has had work on Emmy Award winning television shows such as Will & Grace in the 90’s through the mid 2000’s. Now she has found a more purposeful & powerful work with the introspective look of her current direction. The relationship of the conscious and unconscious is her subject matter now. The relationship between health and illness, what and how they both are defined. Amelia has work in the permanent collection of the Ft Collins Museum of Art. She has participated with many Art in Public Places projects, the majority of in her now home state of Colorado. Amelia also has a very successful fabric line called “Effervescence” with industry leader Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Creating organic forms in vibrant colors creates a feast for the eyes. Caruso changes your visual perspective. “I want the viewer to sense the beautiful grace and visual chemistry in the fluidity and color relationships of my work. I want the viewer to be engaged in the depth of the 2 dimensional surface, to be drawn into the flow. To move through the painting, looking at the dot patterns from a new perspective. Actually seeing and feeling the energy and the vibration of the form and colors. The dots are hand painted with only a paintbrush. No other tools are used.” ~Amelia Caruso

Paintings by GEORGE COLL available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Décor. I am an avid painter of western landscapes and enjoy teaching art in studio for more than a decade. What was it about me that got the painting thing going? I did not come from an artistic family but I do come from a family of “doers”. I can get in front of a blank canvas and get things started either in the studio or plein air – no problem with painter’s block. My siblings inherited the same ‘get it done’ trait but do other things than paint. I live in Northern Colorado and developed my skills and style around the local environment.

Abstract wildlife painting by BOB COONTS available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor A Colorado native and long-time Fort Collins resident, Bob’s painting style reflects his Western Heritage yet is uniquely his own. He strives for an image that is unusual and that brings pleasure in the doing as well as in the viewing. His work is often stylized, often whimsical, always colorful and strong in design and composition. Animals, landscapes, people, history and mythology provide him a wealth of subject matter. He also produces images that are purely abstract or non-objective in nature. He works with a color palette reminiscent of the Fauvist movement and often combines both realism and abstraction in one piece.

Urban Paintings by KIM ENGLISH available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor Colorado based painter, Kim English, depicts in his paintings the simple beauty found in daily life. Known for his mastery of chiaroscuro, each piece speaks to the true focus of English's inspiration the harmony existing between light and shadow. His subject matter, ranging from a street side fruit stand in Mexico to sun filled windows, creates a particular mood, through which the viewer is introduced to charming scenarios that are wrapped in depth and texture, and are entirely about paint. This is the primary force of English's painting: his astonishing manipulation of his medium. His many awards include the Oil Painters of America, the Certificate of Merit and the Joseph Hartley Memorial Award . Kim English explores and creates visual observations of everyday life capturing the human spirit on canvas. He maintains a feeling of spontaneity by completing each painting in one sitting the alla prima method. He says of using this method, Immediacy is important. Not only because it is often the nature of people, but for me it is the most instinctive way to paint. English was born in 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in a rural community near Colorado Springs. After graduation from the Rocky Mountain School of Art he joined the faculty and later began teaching at the Art Students League of Denver and the Scottsdale Artists School. He has exhibited at the Allied Artists of America winning the Gold Medal of Honor; the National Academy of Design; the Artists of America-Denver Rotary Club; NAWA 21st Annual Exhibition; Arts for the Parks; the Colorado Governor's Invitational – Loveland Museum; the A.R. Mitchell Memorial Museum of Western Art; The Knickerbocker 42nd Annual Exhibition; the Oil Painters of America and won both the Certificate of Merit and the Joseph Hartley Memorial Award at two Salmagundi Club Exhibitions.

Paintings by DON HAMILTON available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor. As a child Don loved to draw and would often bring his drawings to his grandfather, an artist and master stone cutter, to be critiqued. Later Don studied privately with Joe Brand, a respected wildlife artist and instructor at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, focusing exclusively on wildlife. Don’s desire to work from life and vary his subject matter led him to branch out into other areas and most importantly, begin painting outside, “en plein air.” Don continued his education with outdoor workshops from a number of noted painters. Don has exhibited at the Small Works Great Wonders Show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum-Oklahoma, Masters in Miniature Invitational Show, Trailside Gallery-Jackson Hole Wyoming, Western Masters Show-Montana, Salon International-Texas, CM Russell Auction-Montana, Mountain Oyster Club-Arizona, National Exhibition, Oil Painters of America and previous Colorado Governor’s Art Shows. Don continues to travel throughout the west, seeking to “capture the moment.”

Painting professionally since 1999, Alyson Kinkade’s artwork is widely collected and exhibited throughout the U.S. She holds a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. In 2002 Southwest Art magazine listed Alyson as one of the “top 21 artists under 31”. September 2005 Southwest Art published her first feature editorial, and 2010 brought an editorial from American Art Collector Magazine. Alyson continues to create new works from her Loveland, Colorado studio. “Over the years my focus has transitioned more and more toward the fleeting beauty that surrounds us daily. My primary goal through the interpretation in paint of my observations of nature is to allow the viewer a moment of respite in the bustle of our days: to celebrate the brilliance of color, get lost in the airiness of the sky, or bask in the quietude of our open spaces.”

Abstract art by CHRISTOPHER OWEN NELSON available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Nelson’s creations reveal the dynamic nature of intrinsic existence, as thought and feeling align within a medium that is uniquely his own. Combining elements of his skills in painting, construction and songwriting, Nelson illus-trates deliberate yet subconscious narratives guided by lucid dreamscape. His work continues to grow in scale and in concept. Nelson is bound by no medium; creates in a perpetual state of research and development. Striking his own path, he cuts a wide road for future pioneers. Nelson exists in leaps and bounds. The art world follows in double time. Christopher Owen Nelson thrives in the vast arid landscape of the American West. As a Colorado native, he studied fine arts at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design where he learned classical methods in drawing and painting. While developing a deep appreciation for composition and form, Nelson focused on employing alternative materials; sculpting with used carpet, found objects and painting on glass. He continued on to pursue a career in construction, whereby gaining valuable knowledge in concrete, steel and woodworking that would eventually lay substructure for a new and innovative artistic approach.Nelson’s creativity is fathomless, as is evident in all aspects of his life. As a successful songwriter/musician, he conveys feelings of beauty and loss, lightness and dark intertwine. These same concepts are mirrored in his visual art, where barren, leafless trees fracture solitary space. Nelson’s portraiture suggests that even the people we are the most intimate with will forever remain mysterious beings. Here, beauty is drawn from the darker aspects of life. There is a consistent thread that runs throughout all bodies of his work; a need to transform shadow and grit into something beautiful and smooth. Critical attention and art world accolades have been swift and abundant. Early honors include the Most Promising Artist Scholarship Award and being named as one of “21 Under 31 Emerging Artists” earmarked for success, by Southwest Art Magazine. Recently Nelson’s achievements in the arts have been featured in several national publications, including: Western Art Collector; Luxe Interiors and Design; Western Art and Architecture; Santa Fean magazine, and American Art Collector. Born in Denver, Colorado in 1979, Nelson showed a command of multiple mediums at an early age. His first works to hang in Denver galleries came through self-training as a teenager. His formal education continued at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, but his impact on the art community has sprung from his pioneering explorations of carved and manipulated acrylic and bold use of color. His is the rare work that transcends genres and traditional art world labels. From his contemporary interpretation of familiar landscapes, to his aggressive manipulation of color and abstractions, Nelson’s work is refreshing and new. Like so many artists before him, Christopher Owen Nelson’s entrance into the mainstream art world came from an innate calling that pushed him to create and experiment. His natural abilities and intense desire to explore the artistic nature within have given rise to an entirely new approach to traditional landscape, figurative and abstract work. He couples his ingenuity with amazing passion and energy to create his one of- a-kind mixed media on acrylic pieces. In addition, music plays an important role in Nelson\\'s creative process. Being a musician, he finds that it fuels his creative energy. Music informs his art and his art informs his music. The direct relationship between the two is vital, and when one flourishes or suffers, so does the other. In a short period of time, Nelson has established himself as one of the top young talents to emerge from the vibrant south west art community. As demonstrated through his body of work, his vision continues to move forward, pushing physical, thematic, and emotional boundaries. He continued on to pursue a career in construction, whereby gaining valuable knowledge in concrete, steel and woodworking that would eventually lay substructure for a new and innovative artistic approach. Electric power tools became primary instruments, with paints and textiles applied at later stages in conceptual evolution. Nelson’s creativity is fathomless, as is evident in all aspects of his life. As a successful songwriter/musician, he conveys feelings of beauty and loss, lightness and dark intertwine. These same concepts are mirrored in his visual art, where barren, leafless trees fracture solitary space. Oil painting by JEAN PERRY available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor My painting style has evolved thru the years from creating large abstract collages using acrylics and tissue paper to a more traditional style today that could be described as a form of Impressionism. The change began some thirty years ago when I discovered the excitement of painting outside on location. Today I am primarily a plein air painter traveling all over the world with my portable easel and paints in my backpack. I work mainly in oil and when traveling I paint on surfaces of linen that has been glued to Baltic birch wooden panels or Styrofoam boards. When painting a landscape en plein air you are limited to the number of hours you can work before the moving sun has created an entirely different picture so I carry small panels in sizes from 8”x10” to the largest size, 16”x20”. Actually, I think that this constraint of time helps me to concentrate on the impression of the scene and not get too involved with the details and hopefully the painting will have some of the emotion that I felt when I was standing there. These paintings are usually close to being a finished painting, but if not, I will work on them in the studio before releasing them to a gallery. In my studio I also use these small pieces as reference for larger paintings on stretched linen canvas, sometimes combining the information from more than one field study. I also paint still lifes and portraits from life and believe all painting is learning to “see”. Jean started art classes at age 5 when her mother sent her to Saturday lessons at the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Mo. Majoring in Fine Arts at the University of Colorado, she began painting in an abstract, nonobjective style. Signing up for a local plein air workshop taught by Mel Fillerup of Wyoming she discovered the joys of painting on location. ‘We painted every day even in a spring snow storm and I knew I had found my direction’. Since that time Jean has continued her art education with classes at the Scottsdale Artists School, workshops with many instructors including private lessons with Mark Daily in Denver. Her style of painting has evolved from abstract to a more traditional form of Impressionism working mainly in oil. Jean has painted and traveled all over the world including Indonesia, Europe and Mexico. She teaches workshops every year with several different organizations. The most prestigious oil painting organizations in America have voted her a signature member including the Plein Air Painters of America, Oil Painters of America, Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters and an honorary member of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society. Her paintings can be found in shows from New York to California including the Arts for the Parks Top 100, The Salmagundi Club in New York City, Laguna Art Museum, Clymer Museum in Washington and the Desert Caballeros Museum in Arizona. Summer classes continued until college where she majored in Fine arts at the University of Colorado. It was during this time that she began painting in an abstract, nonobjective style. Jean continued sporadic lessons through the early years of marriage and raising four children. In 1980 Jean and her husband, Gil moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and she decided to make a full-time commitment to her love of art. Signing up for a local plein air workshop taught by Mel Fillerup of Wyoming she discovered the joys of painting on location.

Oil painting by TERESA VITO available at Columbine Gallery Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art and Home Decor Teresa Vito's paintings reflect the beauty she sees all around her. She loves painting living energy, whether it is the outdoor landscape, berries and flowers picked for a still life, or the unending variety of the human face. Vito has been a full time oil painter since 1992. She currently lives in Pueblo, Colorado. Vito has won numerous national and regional awards including an Award of Excellence, Best Portrait and Best Still Life Awards from Oil Painters of America. She also received the Best of Show award from the Artists of Colorado Exhibition held at the Colorado History Museum. Teresa Vito grew up in a one store town in upstate New York. She had never met an artist or had gone to an art gallery until she went to college. She chose to major in art because she loved to draw. College offered no clue as to how to become an artist so she decided to try to figure it out on her own. With $250 and a train ticket to Denver (she had never been west of Ohio) carrying a suitcase, a purse and a portfolio of nude drawings, Vito began her artistic journey. During her twenties she did every job she could find that was art related. Vito worked in a frame shop and gallery, at art supply stores, made posters and newspaper advertisements and created display windows in downtown Denver. The year the Art Students League in Denver opened, she maneuvered a job there running a small art supply store. It was here she found out about the world of Artist's Workshops. Vito learned as much as she could looking through the door of the many classes taught by master artists, who were in fact making a living with their art. With this inspiration, Vito saved up enough money in 1992 to live cheaply for a year and become a full time artist. She has never looked back and strives to continue to be the best possible painter she can be. She now teaches workshops with gratitude and generosity, to share in all that she has learned. Vito has a BA in Fine Art from the State University of New York at Geneseo and has taught and studied at the Art Students League at Denver and the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts. She has expanded her knowledge by taking numerous workshops over the years with artists Quang Ho, Ramon Kelley, Clyde Aspevig, Mike Lynch, Greg McHuron, Laura Robb and Nancy Guzik, Greg Kreutz and Robert Johnson. Vito painted with acclaimed Master Artist Richard Schmid for five years. Vito has conducted workshops and painted in various locations in Colorado and New Mexico as well as Provence, Bordeaux and Burgundy France, the Copper Canyon in Mexico, Tuscany Italy, Thailand and Laos, Spain and Morocco, the Greece island of Hydra and New York City. Vito loves to travel and paint different inspiring locations and is looking forward to expanding her travel list!
