"Over the years I have found that my art not only reflects my present life content and moods, but also, and with great accuracy, predicts future unknown emotions and challenges. What may next be liberated will be a result of the ongoing dialogue between carver and stone.
Art is the universal language. The gift allows the artist to bridge differences of gender, education, histories and background -to communicate through barriers, to touch the soul, fill the heart and unleash the imagination. Ideas that I am liberating from myself are vulnerability, clarity, interdependence, longing, and compassion" |

“I design for a purpose, combining emotion and intention to grow ideas; translating these concepts into vision, and vision into reality.” -Kathleen Caricof
Caricof’s interest in sculpture developed from a background in designing for space. Much of her past work incorporates the theme of community through abstract form. She places a great deal of importance in ‘the gathering’ for mutual support and as a collective celebration of life. Caricof focuses her creative energies on public art because of its shared impact on a wide range of diverse viewers, fueling community involvement and enriching the surrounding environment.
A background as a commercial designer turned sculptor shows in Caricof’s approach to each project. Her interest in sculpture developed from a design background, having earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Professional projects include working with Buckminster Fuller in product design and with PPG Glass in developing a new generation of products.
Caricof’s current sculptural work is directed toward mixed media applications. As an artist, she thrives on experimentation, seeking out new directions, techniques and materials for continued growth. Her work is designed to be relevant, welcoming and approachable for a broad audience as well as be interactive whenever possible. The primary objective for all of Caricof’s work is to successfully create engaging and thoughtful placements.
